The railroad turntable is a location in the film The Polar Express.

Role in the film

After Hero Boy accidentally steps on a lever which uncouples the observation car from the rest of the train while convincing Billy to get off the train with Hero Girl, he looks for an emergency brake, but cannot find one. The Hobo suddenly appears and taps on the brake wheel before disappearing when he crashes into a wall. Hero Boy turns the wheel and the car stops on the turntable, which starts to spin. When it stops, the children get off and try to find their way back to the Square. Sometime later, some of the elves came here to retrieve the observation car and reattach it to the train.
