"I didn't do it."
— Steven

Steven is a minor character in The Polar Express.

Role in the film[]

After one of the elves reports of a child who stuck gum in their sister's hair, the Elf General asks if it is the same kid who stuck a tack under their teacher's chair, to which the first elf says that was someone else named Steven.

Next, footage of Steven saying, "I didn't do it." is looped on one of the screens.

As it's Christmas Eve, the Elf General decides to be liberal towards Steven and not warn Santa, proposing to his fellow elves that they cut him a break, so long as they keep an eye on his behavior for next year.
